BMW M4

Power, handling and design. BMW’s M series stands out from the crowd. If you aren’t familiar with BMW’s M division, it offers highly coveted vehicles that take the excellence of BMW’s engineering to the next level.

BMW M History

This year marks 50 years of BMW M, with the start of the program beginning in 1972. BMW was making a name for themselves in the motorsports arena (hence the “M” for motorsports) and part of that was taking what they learned on the racetrack and integrating it into street legal vehicles for BMW enthusiasts. The first M to be sold to the public was the M1, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and had a limited run with only 456 being built. From there, other M models were designed and manufactured, including the 1986 M3 which is still desirable today. All M vehicles are tested and tuned at BMW’s racing circuit in Nürburgring, Germany. BMW continues to add M models with increased capabilities, continuing their tradition of bringing their passion for motorsports to drivers around the world.

Today’s BMW M

Power

BMW’s M models use their TwinPower technology which utilizes two turbos to deliver exceptional power beyond their standard engine. With special tuning from their racing facility, M engines boast more than 100 horsepower per liter.

Handling

Why have all that power if you don’t have outstanding handling to go with it? M vehicles are equipped with “track-level” performance components including advanced suspensions, differentials and 50/50 weight distribution.

Aesthetic

To go with their outstanding performance, BMW M styling also screams racing. These vehicles look as quick as they are, tapping race-inspired lines for an exterior that turns heads. Sporty grills, a wide stance, large wheels and sleek, aerodynamic design lend themselves to both the look and performance. Inside you’ll find a cockpit that looks like you’re ready to race with the added touch of luxury appointments you’d expect from a BMW.

Experience the track

Want to test out an M on a real track? You can do that at a BMW Performance Center. Take an M for a few laps and learn from racing experts how to push performance to the max with stability, control and drifting exercises. The best news is that one of the Performance Centers is located in Thermal, CA, only 100 miles from Ontario. You could be racing in about a two-hour drive!
