Autotrader is back this year with an updated 2022 list for the best cars for college students and grads! We covered last year’s Autotrader list and are excited to share the updated picks for this year. Whether you’re currently in college or just graduated, these vehicles are fantastic options that will provide value, great mpg or range, are safe and reliable. Vehicles from either list are sure to hit the mark for college students and grads. 

2022 Vehicle Picks for College Students and Grads 

We’re thrilled to say that you can get all 10 of the vehicles on Autotrader’s 2022 list at Ontario Auto Center. Here’s a list recap as well as some points from Autotrader on why these vehicles made their top 10. 

2022 Ford Maverick 

Super practical and gets great mileage (37 mpg!), this truck is compact but does a lot of heavy lifting. Enough room for passengers, plus a truck bed for the many moves college students and grads tend to undergo.    

2022 Honda Accord Hybrid 

Plenty of standard features, 47 mgp and solid performance, this is a wonderful starting out vehicle for a young professional.   

2022 Honda Insight Hybrid 

Another vehicle with exceptional mileage with 52 mpg, the Insight is a classy sedan at an affordable price point.  

2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid 

A big selling point for students and grads will be Hyundai’s exceptional warranty. Plus, the Elantra Hybrid can get up to 54 mpg and has a stylish exterior that makes a statement.   

2022 Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid 

Topping out at a whopping 59 mpg, the IONIQ Hybrid hits the mark for fuel economy, the wonderful Hyundai warranty, entry-level price point and functionality. 

2022 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 

Hyundai is on a roll on Autotrader’s list with the sleek Sonata Hybrid. It’s got the interior comfort, high mpg and warranty to make it a fantastic pick for students and grads.    

2022 Kia Niro 

There are two versions of the Niro, the plug-in hybrid and fully electric, that will work well for students and grads. This small SUV looks fun and gives a lot of bang for your buck.     

2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid 

Another maker with three vehicles on the list, Toyota offers reliable and affordable vehicles. On top of great mileage, the Camry Hybrid has a terrific infotainment system.  

2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid 

A newer design helps the Corolla Hybrid stand out from the standard sedan vibe and an eco-friendly 52 mpg are just a couple of the great qualities of this hybrid. 

2022 Toyota Prius 

Check out the Eco trim level for fuel economy as high as 56 mpg. The Prius redesign is cute and comfortable with great standard features like lane-keeping assist and Smart Key keyless entry.
