2026 Toyota RAV4 Prime Overview

For 2026, the RAV4 family becomes a fully electrified lineup with Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid powertrains. This means there is no traditional gas only RAV4. The plug-in hybrid, often viewed as the 2026 RAV4 Prime, sits at the top with the most power and the longest all electric driving range.

Toyota positions the 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid as:

  • The most powerful RAV4 in the lineup
  • A high efficiency commuter with substantial EV only capability
  • A versatile small SUV with available all-wheel drive and adventure-oriented trims

The compact SUV can handle local errands in EV mode on most days, then switch to hybrid operation for longer road trips without requiring frequent charging stops.

What Is New for the 2026 Toyota RAV4 Prime (Plug-in Hybrid)

Compared to the previous generation RAV4 Prime and the 2025 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, the 2026 model brings several Toyota confirmed updates:

  • All new sixth generation plug-in hybrid powertrain
  • Manufacturer estimated all electric range increase of about 23 percent, now up to 52 miles
  • Net combined system horsepower of 324 hp, up from 302 hp
  • Improved manufacturer estimated combined fuel economy up to 41 MPG on select grades
  • Updated exterior styling with Core, Rugged Woodland, and Sport including GR SPORT design themes
  • Updated Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system
  • New digital gauge cluster and available head up display on PHEV XSE

2026 Toyota RAV4 Prime Range and Efficiency

Shoppers researching the 2026 Toyota RAV4 Prime range will find encouraging improvements.

All electric range

Toyota reports that the 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid uses a new sixth generation powertrain with a manufacturer estimated all electric driving range of up to 52 miles. This is a notable increase from the manufacturer estimated 42-mile EV range of the 2025 model.

In real world use:

  • Many daily commutes in the Inland Empire can be completed on electricity alone
  • Charging at home overnight allows the RAV4 Prime to function like an EV during the week
  • When the EV range is depleted, the system automatically shifts to hybrid mode

Hybrid fuel economy

The 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is expected to deliver up to a manufacturer estimated 41 MPG combined on select grades. This results in:

  • Lower overall fuel costs compared to a gas only compact SUV
  • Strong efficiency even when charging is less frequent

EPA ratings may vary once finalized, although the trend shows clear gains in both electric range and overall efficiency.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Prime Power and Performance

Performance remains central to the RAV4 Prime experience, and Toyota has enhanced capability for the 2026 model year.

Horsepower and driveline

Toyota confirms that the 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid produces 324 net combined system horsepower, an increase of about 22 hp over the previous model.

Key performance features include:

  • 324 net combined system horsepower
  • Standard all-wheel drive across all PHEV models
  • Plug-in hybrid tuning that delivers strong electric acceleration along with hybrid efficiency

Ride and handling updates

The new generation RAV4 receives several chassis and suspension refinements:

  • More rigid front and rear suspension mounting points
  • Retuned coil springs and new shock absorbers for a flatter, more comfortable ride
  • Revised suspension bushings to reduce noise and vibration
  • Electronically Controlled Brake system and Vehicle Braking Posture Control for improved control
  • Cooperative Steering Driving Force Control for balanced cornering

These updates deliver a smoother and quieter cabin while maintaining confident handling.

2025 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid:

  • Manufacturer estimated 42-mile EV only range
  • 302 net combined system horsepower

2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid:

2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid: What to Expect From Hyundai’s New 3-Row Hybrid SUV

2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid: What to Expect From Hyundai’s New 3-Row Hybrid SUV

The Hyundai Palisade has quickly become one of the most popular family SUVs on the market. Known for its comfort, tech-forward cabin, and premium feel at a non-luxury price, it has consistently ranked as a favorite among buyers looking for a roomy and refined three-row vehicle. But until now, one thing has been missing from the Palisade lineup: a hybrid.

That changes for 2026.

Hyundai is finally launching the 2026 Palisade Hybrid, marking a major milestone not just for the nameplate, but for Hyundai’s larger move toward electrified family vehicles. So what can buyers expect from this new hybrid-powered version of one of Hyundai's best-selling SUVs? Quite a lot. From improved fuel efficiency to a completely redesigned interior, the 2026 Palisade Hybrid aims to be the most advanced, and most efficient Palisade yet.

This blog takes a deep dive into everything you need to know.

A Big Step Forward: The New Hybrid Powertrain

The headline feature of the 2026 Palisade Hybrid is, of course, its all-new electrified powertrain. Hyundai pairs a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. That’s a strong showing for a three-row hybrid SUV and a noticeable improvement over many hybrid competitors that prioritize efficiency over muscle.

The hybrid system is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which is a bit unusual in a segment where continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) are common. Hyundai deliberately avoids a CVT here, aiming to provide a more traditional, responsive driving feel, and it's  something that many drivers prefer.

Buyers will have the option of front-wheel drive (FWD) or HTRAC all-wheel drive (AWD). And the Palisade Hybrid doesn’t sacrifice practicality either: towing capacity is still a solid 4,000 pounds, making it capable enough for light campers, trailers, or small boats.

Fuel Efficiency: A Huge Win for Families

Let’s be honest, fuel economy is one of the biggest reasons families look at hybrid SUVs, especially as gas prices remain unpredictable. And the Palisade Hybrid doesn’t disappoint, as it dominates in this category.

EPA estimates come in at:

  • FWD: 33 city / 35 highway / 34 combined
  • AWD: 29 city / 30 highway / 29 combined

For a big, boxy, three-row SUV, those numbers are extremely competitive.

Hyundai is also touting a potential driving range of over 560 miles, depending on market and trim. That means fewer fuel stops on long family road trips, something every parent will appreciate. There’s also a nifty “Stay Mode” feature designed specifically for the hybrid, which lets the vehicle maintain infotainment and climate functions while parked, without draining the battery excessively, and is great for parents waiting during sports practices or school pickup lines.

Bigger, Bolder, and More Spacious

The entire 2026 Palisade lineup receives a full redesign, and the hybrid benefits from it as well. Hyundai lengthened both the overall body and the wheelbase, giving the SUV a more commanding stance and noticeably improving interior space.

The longer wheelbase helps open up the cabin, especially in the often-cramped third row. Whether you have teens, adults, or child seats back there, the added space will be welcomed. The Palisade Hybrid is available with seating for either seven (captain’s chairs) or eight (bench seat), depending on the trim.

There is one small compromise: Hyundai’s decision to place the battery beneath the front passenger seat means there may be slight reductions in legroom in the second row. It’s not a dealbreaker, but if you regularly have tall passengers in row two, it’s worth keeping in mind.

A Tech-Forward Interior Designed for Modern Families

The 2026 Palisade Hybrid’s interior is where the SUV really moves the segment forward. Hyundai leans heavily into tech and premium touches, giving the cabin a more upscale, near-luxury feel.

Some standout features include:

Dual 12.3-inch curved displays

These combine the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into one sleek panel, improving visibility and giving the cabin a high-end aesthetic.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

No more cables cluttering up the center console. Combined with built-in Wi-Fi, road trips become easier and more connected.

Optional UV-C sterilization compartment

A clever feature for families, that’s perfect for sanitizing small items like phones, pacifiers, and keys.

Integrated dash cams

Front and rear cameras can automatically record events while driving or parked, a helpful feature for safety-conscious parents.

Relaxation seats

Available in the first and second rows, these seats offer recline functions designed for long trips or waiting periods.

100W USB-C ports in all three rows

Everyone gets high-speed charging, which means fewer fights over outlets.

Taken together, this tech suite positions the Palisade Hybrid as one of the most advanced family SUVs in its segment.

Safety Features That Put Families First

Hyundai’s SmartSense safety suite is included, giving the Palisade Hybrid a comprehensive list of driver-assistance features:

  • Forward collision avoidance
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot collision avoidance
  • Safe Exit Assist
  • Parking collision avoidance
  • Driver attention monitoring

Higher trims include a 360-degree Surround View Monitor, which is incredibly helpful for parking such a large vehicle, along with Remote Smart Parking Assist, allowing the Palisade to park itself while you stand outside.

Hyundai has been consistently strong in safety ratings, and the Palisade Hybrid aims to continue that reputation.

Pricing and Release Timeline

The 2026 Palisade Hybrid starts at around $43,660 depending on trim and drivetrain. That places it slightly above the base gasoline Palisade but still competitive in the hybrid three-row market.

The 2026 Palisade Hybrid is expected to arrive at Ontario Hyundai soon! Be sure to stay up to date as it will arrive in late 2025, with wider availability in 2026.

The warranty remains one of the best in the industry:

  • 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle
  • 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain
  • 10-year/100,000-mile hybrid battery

For families planning to keep their SUV for many years, this is a significant advantage.

Final Thoughts: Is the 2026 Palisade Hybrid Worth the Hype?

answer: yes!

The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid checks almost every box families are looking for today, as it provides space, comfort, modern tech, impressive fuel economy, and a smooth driving experience. It offers luxury-like refinement without the luxury price tag, and the hybrid powertrain adds value not only at the gas pump but in the overall driving experience.

If you're shopping for a three-row family hauler that’s efficient, upscale, and packed with thoughtful features, the Palisade Hybrid is poised to become one of the top choices in the segment.

2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid vs. Mazda CX-50 Hybrid: Which SUV Comes Out on Top?

2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid vs. Mazda CX-50 Hybrid: Which SUV Comes Out on Top?

If you’re shopping for a stylish, efficient, and versatile hybrid SUV in 2025, there are many excellent choices, among them the Honda CR-V Hybrid and the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid. Both deliver strong performance, advanced technology, and impressive comfort. Yet when it comes to all-around excellence, the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid sets itself apart.

Design and Comfort: Practical Meets Premium

The Honda CR-V Hybrid carries forward Honda’s signature balance of utility and elegance. Its exterior has a clean, aerodynamic shape with bold accents without trying too hard. Step inside, and you’ll find a cabin that’s airy and functional, with premium materials that feel upscale for the segment.

The CR-V’s interior layout is designed with real-world comfort in mind. Rear passengers get excellent legroom, and the cargo space is among the largest in its class. Whether you’re loading up groceries or gear for a weekend trip, the CR-V Hybrid makes it effortless.

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid also has an upscale, sporty cabin and stylish design, but it leans heavily toward aesthetics rather than function. Its sloping roofline sacrifices some rear headroom, and cargo space falls short compared to the CR-V. While Mazda’s interior craftsmanship is impressive, the Honda’s practical comfort and smart storage make it the more family-friendly option.

Performance and Efficiency: Power Meets Practicality

Under the hood, the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, producing a combined 204 horsepower. The hybrid system delivers smooth acceleration, seamless transitions between gas and electric power, and outstanding efficiency, reaching up to 40 mpg combined, depending on trim and drivetrain.

The Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, developed with Toyota technology, is respectable in performance but doesn’t quite match the CR-V’s refinement. Its acceleration feels less fluid, and its fuel economy numbers are slightly lower, with around 37 mpg combined. Mazda’s hybrid system prioritizes responsiveness, but it lacks the polished balance that Honda’s system has perfected over several generations of hybrid engineering.

If you want a vehicle that’s both fun to drive and gentle on your wallet at the pump, the CR-V Hybrid delivers the perfect blend of both worlds.

Technology and Features: Smart, Safe, and Intuitive

Every 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid comes packed with Honda Sensing® safety and driver-assist features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Mitigation Braking. The infotainment system has been improved for 2025 with faster response times, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and available wireless charging for a clutter-free experience.

Honda’s touchscreen layout, voice commands, and customizable menus make it easy to stay connected while keeping your eyes on the road. Safety-wise, both SUVs earn top marks, but Honda continues to set the bar for reliability and long-term dependability, a major reason many hybrid buyers choose the CR-V.

Ride Quality: Quiet, Composed, and Confident

Honda’s hybrid technology doesn’t just boost fuel economy, it enhances the entire driving experience. The CR-V Hybrid delivers quiet acceleration, minimal cabin noise, and a ride that feels solid yet comfortable, even on rough pavement.

Mazda’s CX-50 Hybrid has a sportier edge, appealing to drivers who enjoy a firmer suspension and tighter cornering. However, that sportiness comes at the expense of everyday comfort. The CR-V’s balanced ride makes it ideal for families, commuters, and weekend adventurers alike.

Value and Ownership: Built to Last

When you factor in long-term reliability, resale value, and maintenance costs, the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid continues to lead. Honda’s track record for building dependable vehicles is well known, and the CR-V Hybrid follows that legacy perfectly.

Mazda’s hybrid entry is newer, its long-term durability hasn’t yet been proven. While it offers an appealing package today, the CR-V Hybrid provides peace of mind for years to come, a key reason why so many drivers stick with Honda.

Final Thoughts: The Smarter Choice for Everyday Drivers

Both the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid and Mazda CX-50 Hybrid bring style and technology to the growing hybrid SUV market. But when you look at overall value, efficiency, comfort, and dependability, the CR-V Hybrid stands as the smarter choice. It’s a vehicle that fits seamlessly into your lifestyle, whether you’re commuting, carpooling, or heading out for a weekend escape.

If you’re ready to experience the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid for yourself, visit Penske Honda of Ontario, conveniently located within Ontario Auto Center. Their team can walk you through trims, features, and financing options so you can find the CR-V Hybrid that fits your needs perfectly.
