spring break trip

Spring is almost here and with that comes the tradition of a Spring Break trip. Whether you’re in school and get some time off, or simply enjoy travel in the spring, we’ve got some great tips to make sure that your spring road adventure brings the sunshine.

Plan Your Spring Break Getaway

Before you pack up your Ford Expedition from Citrus Ford, here are a few things you can do to plan an awesome Spring Break trip:

Pick a spot that fits your expectations
When you think Spring Break, you might automatically think of the beach. We love the beach, and an SUV with lots of cargo space like the Ford Expedition will be perfect for packing up gear like beach chairs, umbrellas and a big cooler of snacks and drinks. However, you should pick a destination that meets your ideal vacationing style. If relaxing on the beach isn’t the vacation you want, then skip the sand and head to the mountains or to a city location with lots of sight seeing opportunities. Spring Break is what you make of it!

Make reservations
Spring Break is a popular time for travel, so you’ll want to make reservations for campgrounds, hotels, restaurants, excursions/tours and shows early. Skip the stress of trying to nab everything last minute and have all your entertainment planned and booked. You might also consider splurging on any VIP access at theme parks or events. It could be costly, but if you can skip long lines or share a special “behind the scenes” experience it might be worth it!

Pack a cooler
The great thing about road tripping in a vehicle with great cargo space like the Ford Expedition is that not only does it have room for all your luggage, but you’ll have plenty of space for a big cooler full of snacks and drinks. Be sure to grab everyone’s favorite beverages such as soda, juice or iced coffee options, but also pack lots of water. If you want to take your snack game beyond chips and candy, check out some fun Spring Break recipes that you can pack up for the drive.

Plan a route
Get your road trip route nailed down in advance. Make sure to plan for stops along the way to get out and walk around or take bathroom breaks. You’ll also want to check that no road closures or construction are on your route before hitting the road.

Check your vehicle
Give your car a once over and make sure all your regularly scheduled maintenance items have been addressed. Ask a certified mechanic to confirm your fluid levels, battery, brakes, tire pressure, lights and more are ready for a road trip. Better safe than sorry!
