Heart racing speed. The pinnacle of performance. The finish line brings glory. Racing is an exciting spectacle that centers on exceptional driving skill and precision design and mechanics. It’s no wonder that racing captures the attention of so many car enthusiasts.  

Here are some of the top races from around the world: 

  1. 24 Hours of Le Mans
    A test of endurance and concentration, 24 Hours of Le Mans has been taking place since 1923 and is the longest running race of its kind. This race puts both human and mechanical stamina to the test, as drivers and vehicles must be able to operate at top performance for 24 hours. 
  2. Indianapolis 50
    Dating back to 1911, the Indianapolis 500, also known as the Indy 500, takes place on a track nicknamed the “Brickyard,” as the whole raceway was once paved in bricks. Now, just a small section at the start/finish line is still paved in bricks. Formula 1 race cars are open cockpit, single-seat vehicles that are constructed for the sole purpose of racing and can hit speeds of around 230 mph.  
  3. Monaco Grand Prix
    Another Formula One racing event is the Monaco Grand Prix. Instead of taking place on a track this race twists its way through the streets of Monaco. The narrow passageways and many sharp turns make it especially challenging. The Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500 and 24 Hours of Le Mans make up the Triple Crown of Motorsport. So far only one person has one all three races, though several have won two of the three.
  4. Daytona 500
    Daytona International Speedway is knowns as the “World Center of Racing” and is one the most significant NASCAR events of the year. It also sets the tone for the season and gives viewers an idea of which teams will be ahead of the pack. 
  5. Bathurst 1000
    Held in Australia on Mount Panorama, the Bathurst 1000 is a V8 Supercar race is full of suspense. The race originated in 1960 and was officially moved to Bathurst in 1963. It has mostly been dominated by Ford of Australia and Holden (GM) of Australia. 
  6. FIA World Rally Championship
    The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) World Rally Championship (WRC) offers several rallying groups for teams to choose from. The Championship takes place over many races held in locales around the globe including in Sweden, Spain, Japan, Kenya and New Zealand. Toyota’s GAZOO Racing will be defending their undefeated title in the 2022 races. 
  7. Rainforest Challenge
    This is the perfect race to watch for those that have a passion for 4x4s and taking the path less traveled. The Rainforest Challenge (RFC) takes place in Malaysia and demands drivers tackle challenges such as rain, mud, monsoons, wildlife and difficult terrain in a jungle setting.
