Engine options included a 2.4L four-cylinder and a 3.2L V6, later joined by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder for stronger performance and efficiency. 

 Inside, the KL featured modern technology such as the Uconnect infotainment system, advanced safety features, and a more refined cabin compared to earlier generations. While some enthusiasts felt it strayed too far from Jeep’s rugged roots, the KL found success as a versatile, family-friendly SUV with real off-road capability. It remained in production through 2023, closing out a decade-long run as one of Jeep’s most important global models. 

The Arrival of The Sixth Generation: What to Expect? 

The upcoming sixth-generation Jeep Cherokee, set to launch for the 2026 model year, will debut as a hybrid-only SUV using a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder paired with two electric motors for a combined 210 horsepower and around 37 mpg. Built on Stellantis’s STLA Large platform, it grows in size, offering more interior room and nearly 30% more cargo space than before. Its design shifts to a boxier, more rugged look inspired by earlier Cherokees, while still improving aerodynamics.  

All models will feature standard all-wheel drive with solid ground clearance and off-road capability, especially in future Trailhawk trims. Inside, it gains a modern tech suite with digital displays up to 12.3 inches, wireless smartphone integration, and enhanced comfort and safety features. With a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds and pricing expected to start near $37,000, the new Cherokee aims to balance family practicality, fuel efficiency, and Jeep’s off-road heritage.
